If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to add a little extra layer of security onto your Minecraft Bukkit/Spigot/Paper Java server, check out the MineSecure plugin from md_5.

MineSecure adds Two-Factor Authentication (2FA from here on out) to your server which your users can opt into using, or you can even require them to enable it (with a permission). Once MineSecure is installed on your Bukkit-based server, users who have it enabled for their account (or who have the permission which requires them to enable it), will be unable to move or act in the game until they authenticate with a code provided by any major 2FA service provider (Google Authenticator, Authy, Duo Mobile, etc…).

Obviously, this doesn’t so much protect your player’s accounts as much as it protects your server and your player’s builds. If someone gets their account’s password stolen or is somehow otherwise exploited, the hacker will not be able to do anything on the server using that account unless they also have access to the 2FA code provider (usually the player’s phone).

All-in-all, this is a simple plugin that is incredibly easy to set up and will help prevent hackers from griefing your server if, say, they log in with an Admin’s account (or worst – someone with operator status).
